Well, it must be. I got not one, but two different email messages today from two different companies, proclaiming that crochet is back. Gads. Okay. I'm old enough. I get to say, been there, done that. I was around for all the granny square skirts and funky ponchos in the 1960s. Yes, I remember back that far—sometimes it's easier, trust me. Not that I always want to remember those styles. Egads. I imagine

that there must have been some good clothing styles in the 1960s, but other than mini skirts (please, don't crochet them), I really can't think of any off hand. Thankfully, most of the crochet styles this time are better. Most of them. Definitely not all. I've seen "new" granny square skirts that set my teeth on edge.
First off, this crocheted jacket from Berroco isn't bad. Not
bad at all. I might even wear it, if someone gave it to me. Actually, if someone gave it to me that would pretty much guarantee that I'd wear it.
And then Patternworks will send you this pattern for free if you buy the yarn to make it with. This one's rather pretty, too.
I'd really like to jump on the crocheting bandwagon (after Patternwork's enthusiastic CROCHETING IS BACK! email blast) but I am so with you on the "no more granny squares." I still have rashes on the hiney from my grandmother's circa-1970 scratchy acrylic afghans.
