Being, uh, somewhat under the weather in May, I didn't get all my May spectrum photos posted. There are a lot more green things around my house (and in my closet) than in these photos, but they'll have to wait for some other photo project. For now this montage... Starting at the top left is a gorgeous blue-green bowl that my aunt and uncle gave to us for a wedding present. I just love it! Continuing clockwise around, next is part of a print that's hanging in the dining room. I've always loved it for the shapes and colors, including some nice green eucaplyptus leaves, then comes Grandma's lamp. Grandma's favorite color was purple, but the interior designer that she hired to help her do her living room informed her that she couldn't do the whole room in purple. So, Grandma decided to use purple for accent pieces, and have green as the predominant color, hence the lamp and the green couch (lower left)—both of which are now in my possession. Thank you, Grandma! Next is a grouping of my favorite water pitcher, Dave's bunny sculpture, and a little design that I got from a Chinese street seller years ago in San Francisco. The final picture in the lower left is a pile of a few green books on my green couch, leaning up against one of my favorite pillow cases. I don't normally have a bed pillow on the couch, but during my recovery it's been a lot more comfortable than what's usually there.
This final photo is of a painting that my other grandmother painted with oils years and years ago. I think my parents got it when I was in grade school. When Dave and I bought this house, my folks gave me the painting. It hangs at the bottom of our stairs, so you see it when you're coming down. You can also see it when you look down the stairs from the dining room. I have always loved this piece. One of my favorite things about it is that nearly everyone sees something different in it. To my mother, it looks like a Chinese junk. I see an old-fashioned street light in the fog. What do you see?
A dragon's tummy!!!
ReplyDeleteYou did a lot better with green than I did. I really like green; I just don't have a lot of it around the house.
ReplyDeleteI see an egg, lol! Might be different if I saw it in person though.
ReplyDeleteI see a window and a girl or woman laying in bed, perhaps ill?. Her head is on the bottom right side. On the bottom left side it looks like the back of a man with his head bowed - sad maybe? A husband or father, I would assume. Am I totally crazy or can anyone else see it too. Look at the lights and shadows instead of anything specific. I can definitely see her face and his back and sleeve. Once I found it, I couldn't see anything else, my eyes went straight to them.
